I just found out about a really neat contest Chronicle Books (an independent publisher in San Francisco) is holding this holiday season. They're going to be giving away up to $500 worth of books to one blogger and one blog reader out there. Wow!!
If you are a blogger, all you have to do is post a list of books (all published by Chronicle Books) you would like to win and then register here. If you are a blog reader, all you have to do is leave a comment on one or more of the posts. You can find a link to participating blogs here. The last day to enter is December 10th, and on December 13th Chronicle Books will randomly select one blog as the winner. Both the owner of that blog and one person who commented on his or her post will win the whole set of books.
Not surprisingly, my entire wish list is made up of picture books, several of which are related to dance. I actually bought the first book on my list--A Dictionary of Dance--as a gift for someone a while back, so I can highly recommend it. The other dance books are ones I would love to read and possibly feature on my blog.
As for the remaining books on my list, some have musical themes, like When Louis Armstrong Taught Me Scat. Some are written by authors I know and love, like Mama's Kiss by Jane Yolen. And others just appeal to me for a variety of additional reasons. I hope some of them will appeal to you, too. If they do, feel free to leave a comment and enter the contest!

This contest is such a great way both to promote Chronicle Books and to promote all the great interactions that are happening out there in the blogosphere. Happy "Haul-idays," everyone!

ReplyDeleteHAPPY HOLIDAYS!!
Hi,
ReplyDeleteI just found your site through Maria's Movers. I would love to list you on my site as a resource for teachers and parents. You can check my blog out at: http://leapinglegs.blogspot.com
I love to collect dance books and connect dance and literature when I teach - a story is a story know matter what form it comes in!
Looking forward to hearing from you!

Hi, Nichelle. Thanks so much for sharing the post...and for stopping by!
ReplyDeleteStacey, I am thrilled to have recently found out that lots of dance teachers like to incorporate literature in their classes. I would love it if you listed my site as a resource for teachers and parents. I will check out your blog!
I use "movement stories" in my preschool classes from time to time. The children love them!
ReplyDeleteHi, Linda. I think I might have to consider putting more books on my blog simply because they inspire movement, even if they aren't "exactly" related to dance. Or maybe I will do a post about that one day. Thanks for sparking the idea!
ReplyDeleteLove the list! Good luck!

ReplyDeleteThanks everyone for supporting my list of books, but unfortunately we didn't win. The winner is a blog called cakespy.com. Hope you find lots of good books this holiday season, though, and please stop back by!
