Welcome to My Blog!

Never in a million years would I have thought I would be blogging right now. I'm the kind of girl who resisted getting a cell phone until it became a necessity, resisted using a navigation system in my car until my husband bought one and installed it himself, and even resisted joining Facebook until last year--when I finally got curious enough to see what all the hype was about. So, it surprised me more than anyone when I came up with the idea for this blog and could barely contain my enthusiasm about starting it. Being able to share two of the things I love most in life--picture books and dance--with the rest of the world was just too hard to resist!

My plan is to blog about a wide variety of picture books that are in some way related to dance. A particular blog might be about an old book, a new book, or a book that has a special meaning to me. It might be related to tap dancing, folk dancing, or just plain fun dancing. And, since I am still new to this whole blog thing, I'm not yet sure what other directions it might take. But wherever this adventure leads, let's use it to revel in children's literature and to celebrate the joy of movement together!

  1. What a great idea, Kerry! Looking forward to more blogs. Will you review picture books on dance?

  2. Hi, Famin. Thanks for your comment! My posts will be reviews of sorts. Many will be on books I have read and enjoyed, though some will be on books I haven't read (if the topic looks interesting but I couldn't easily find a copy). I will very briefly describe the book and then maybe give some other interesting information/thoughts about the topic. If anyone has a specific book they would like me to highlight or properly review, though, I would be happy to. That would be great!

  3. Congratulations, Kerry, on your blog launch. My cartoon illustration of you looks great. I hope you'll consider me as the illustrator for your first picture book!

  5. Welcome to the Kidlitosphere, Kerry. It's nice to find a fellow Duke alum who cares about children's literature. I'm glad that you found out about the Kidlitosphere conference through my blog - I hope that you can make it. And I hope that you enjoy blogging. I think it's great to have a very specific niche like yours.
